I need you to tell me what separates Wells Fargo from Bank of America as it pertains to Checking; Savings, On-line Banking and Services like Bill pay.
The reason I am asking is the wife and I are thinking about switching from Citibank to one of these. It seems that both banks basically offer the same services, so why should I choos Wells Fargo over Bof A?

I like BofA and don't have any fees charged to me... They must not have liked you Jenna. Maybe if you were more polite when you went in to sign up for an account....

they would charge me fees like it was going out of style. they'd charge me $20 for not making a deposit in a month, or something stupid like that, then they'd charge me another $20 because when they charged me the first $20, it dropped my account below $10, then they'd charge me $30 for having a negative account balance because their previous $20 charge overdrew my account. so then i'd call to get the charges revoked and they'd charge me another $20 for using the call center, even though calling was the only way to get them to revoke anything.

I remember when First Interstate was bought out by Wells Fargo. A lot of F.I. employees moved their banking elsewhere because of the nightmares they heard through the grapevine about Wells Fargo. Several tellers told my dad that (lifelong F.I. customer). He eventually did close his WF account and went with his comany's credit union. Don't have any personal experience, though.
I worked at their phone bank(WF) about 5 years ago. I saw charges for everything. People even got charged for calling the phone bank if their question wasnt right. If someone looked at us wrong we would charge them a fee.
Even though I worked for them and got the employee banking benefits, I still didnt do my Banking through them.
I have accounts at both of those places... Not real fond of the BofA account primarily for jenna's reasoning... Really odd charges, most of the time they take them off but I really have to watch them closely... They do have some periodic charges, when I ask what they are for, I was told they are just periodic... Get charged after so much time... Crazy...
Washington Mutual is far superior to both of the previously mentioned though... And I have another account at Cal Nat'l... Which is pretty good for daily use because they eat ATM charges, even the ones charged by the independent convinience store ATM's.
I bank at WAMU (just to irk Ryan & Cardfan67). And I also have accounts at uS Bank. Enjoy their products, but better yet is their customer service. Outstanding!!!
Wells Fargo sucks. Terrible service. They made a mistake on my account that ended up costing me over $500. Took me 9 months of bitching to get someone to finally admit they made the mistake, then they wouldn't reverse the charges because too much time had passed. Will never do biz with them again.
