Who gets all the money in the divorce?

Here is the question of the day. I have no problem with marriage/civil union/whatever.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25207457

Great. Good for them, and hopefully it will help stabilize some things in our country.

But over 50% of marriages fail, and I doubt gay couples are going to do any better.

So who gets the money. Usually in this country the guy in the situation gets steamrolled.

But now you don't have gender to decide who is getting screwed in the divorce.

Some how, I think this will level the playing field for divorces, and how they are handled. I would think that gay divorce settlements are going to effect all divorce settlements.

For the better ? Who knows.

Thoughts?

Opinions?

Interesting thought...my guess whoever is the primary wage earner is the one that's going to get "screwed". Just happens to usually be the husband in a traditional marriage.

I wouldn't know nothin' 'bout that.

You have to account for children. I was the primary breadwinner, but my ex had an ok job as well. I didn't get rolled because I have primary custody of our children.

If I didn't, I'm sure 30-40% of my salary would be child support.

It will be no big whoop. The big fights will be over who gets the Streisand records and that rare South Pacific DVD signed by the cast.

24/7 between 6 and 3pm. M-F My work requires me to be on the internet constantly.

After that, I am very rarely on. My time at home is spent with my family.
