Hello folks, I don't post here much, mostly a lurker. But you may have seen me on other sites. (Enuff to know who the all *ahem* mighty and powerful soothsayer NEM is )

Anyway.

I chose my name because I live, hunt, and fish in the desert and I am very cat-like (sneaky). I have great respect especially for the puma or mountain lion. So much so that I have a tattoo of a puma's bust on my hip. (Looks really cool the artist did it off of a photograph on a magazine cover.)

Hence the name DesertPuma.

I use this name on all boards, chatrooms, and web based email accounts that I use.

I used to post as CardFan_N_DC back on rivals, but then DC_Cardfan registered and I kept confusing his posts with mine.

I wanted something that refered to Washington DC, but couldn't come up with anything that I liked. One day, I bought a Plummer jersey over the net using my Capital One Visa Card, the name clicked, and I've been "Capital Card" ever since.

Casablanca, I will have to check out your festival next time around. I drive through Hampton everday going to and from NN and Norfolk for work.

Go Cards!!!

My handle is a complicated missile launch code. My name is actually Bjorn Flejterstad, not Ed Burmila.

You are too kind sir Personally I like Lars the Red as well and CardAvenger

I am glad Sec11 came up with this idea - I love all these stories

As far as allegiences:

I was born in NYC and lived in NJ until I was 9 when my family moved to Scottsdale. When I was a kid in NJ my family had season tickets to the Jets we also went to some Knick and Ranger games. Once I moved to AZ I became a Suns fan. This was in 1976 about the time of the championship run. I have been a Suns fan ever since. Growing up I followed the Bears and Broncos b/c Phoenix did not have a team. Once the Cards came all of the others went out the window. When I started working after school I got season tickets to the Cards and loved it all. Then in 1995 I moved to Tucson - just before the Coyotes came. Didn't stop me from becoming a Yotes fan. I would go to as many games as I could from Tucson and would catch as many games as I could on FSNAZ. I rooted for the D-backs when they came and still do.

Now living back in NYC I am following the Jets and Rangers again. I even got a mini pack of tickets for the Rangers at MSG. I bought Sunday Ticket to watch the Cards (my girlfriend knows that once the game is on I am nowhere else but home in front of the TV. I even have her becoming a Cards fan - jersey and all)

The thing is that I follow NY teams but I am a DIE HARD AZ Sports fan (Cards, Yotes, Suns, DBax). Therein lies the difference. When any AZ sport team plays a NY team I root for the AZ team - but I will root for the Rangers and Jets against anyone else.

For me it is always CARDS, YOTES, SUNS, DBAX, RANGERS, JETS

BTW: I HATE the Nets

CardAvenger came from myself and a bunch of friends who go to the games in Mexican Wrestiling Masks, Capes, and Cardinal Avenger Shirts. I've been going to games for several years, but didn't start the Avengers until a few years ago. It started out as a joke (and still is pretty funny), and just became very fun for us to do. I must admit that sitting through preseason and the first couple of games, when it's 100+ degrees outside, is rough in a mask and cape. I'm starting to wonder if it is all worth it.

CardAvenger

Of course it is worth it. When I was going through Debacle's photos of his trip tp the Game it was great to see all of you there - it was making me homesick!!

Fans like you and the others, along with all who routinely and passionately post here, add to my enjoyment of the game and the season. I bummed the Cards are not playing at home when I come back during Thanksgiving b/c I was going to go to the game and make a point of finding you all there.

I know it is hot in Aug/Sept and having that gear on would be uncomfortable - but have you ever thought of modifying what you wear for the heat? I am sure you have but maybe there is something else you could do so that it would be more comfortable.

I will see you guys at a game in the near future - bet on it!!

Isn't there some sort of bikini hybrid that includes a cape and mask? I'll look into it...

I don't know if you've seen the Avengers, but that could get pretty ugly. We wouldn't want to induce vomiting amongst fans. I know the Capes are slimming, but we aren't the health nuts that we appear to be. Maybe I should look in to some vertical stripes?

Handle

When setting up the account a friend of mine just got finished checking out the recent tour dates for a band called Moe, so I thought it was simple and sweet so I used it as my handle. Sorry nothing significant.

A few years back, I was trying to register a handle for something (maybe pick the pros?), and was trying to use my name. No matter how and what I wrote, it said that it was already taken and used. After about half an hour, I was getting pretty ticked and so started putting things like 'pi$$ed off'....
Finally I couldn't take it; I wrote one last name MadRob....and it was open!!! Ever since, that name has worked for any registration or thread I've needed....

By the way, I'm a Cubbies fan, too... after my grandfather.

Are all the Loser Cubs fans Here????

Just Kidding, Just Kidding, I got my handle starting way back with Da Bears Dan Hampton ...I have always posted under Danimal15, then Danimal16 and then Danimal89. Every board I try to sign in to that way but this monikar stuck after what #16 said and I have been a life long Cardinal baseball and Football fan. I just moved to mesa this year and have taken in a couple of Cards games including last weekends loss. I also took in an eating establishment called Slugos in Mesa last week and all over the place were Cub memorabilia and signs. Found out it used to be Steve Stones old joint. Very good and besides the Cards and Cub fans have been co-existing for years....as long as the Cards keep winning...........

I remember that resturant, it is by the Mesa Library. Didn't it used to be called "Harry and Steve's?"

The fans that annoy me are the ones that don't wear a single item of clothing identifying which team they're pulling for. They usually end up mouthing off and calling a ton of attention on themselves. Then they get ticked off when someone points out that they're not even enough of a fan to make it clearly known.

no seriously, it is hard for me to envision myself having enough extra time and money to pursue a team that I could care less about, and going to one of their games.

What do you mean by "mouthing off"? are you referring to someone getting into verbal confrontations with other fans, or someone who yells a lot of stuff at the field of play during the game?
