When Chicago and Arizona play - which team do you root for? That is the team you're a diehard fan of.
Oh, I am a diehard Bears fan...would root for them against anybody. Born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. Diehard Bears, very passionate Cards fan.
If they played each other I would participate little that week on this board.
Same with baseball. Diehard and frustrated Cubs fan (3rd generation fan) and very passionate Dbacks fan.
Always root for the hometown teams!

I know how you feel - born and raised in Central Illinois, I grew up cheering for the Cubs and the Bears. I moved to Arizona in '83, so I reveled in the Bears Super Bowl from afar. My first test was in '93(? - during Buddy's first season) when we had a chance for the wild card, and played the Bears, who were also going for the wild card. I ended up rooting for the Cards (who lost).
By the time the Dbacks came to town, I was so sick of the Tribune's penny pinching that it was very easy to cheer for the Dbacks over the Cubs, even the first season. I still root for the Cubs, but they are definately #2.

I like Lars, most people do, but he's never around the day after I've been over-served and that's the one thing I don't like about him. He get's to have all the fun, I think he should share in the pain.
Classic. I think I've met Lars. Several times.

I used to attend the Cubs Dbacks series every year at BOB and have stopped doing that since it is hard for me to root for either team in that instance. I really don't want either team to lose. So I watch them on TV and just try to enjoy the game without rooting...hard to do.
Last year, the Cards played the Bears and I was rooting for the Bears but was very angry at Pittman for fumbling that ball that McQuarters returned for a TD. I don't seem to recall the 93 game for some reason.
Last year, when the Dbacks won the World Series I was so happy and I wanted every Cub fan to feel what that was like. I feel the same way about Cards fans. After backing the Bears and finally getting the SB win, I want Cards fans to feel what winning it is like. Nothing finer!

I am in the Geographic Information Systems field, so when my wife was picking our e-mail she chose earthsci for Earth Scientist. I keep it for my handle so I have to remember fewer things just like Albert Einstein.........................or Homer Simpson.
I have to take issue with another poster who shall remain nameless now that he has revealed the nature of his handle. As the proudest of sideside Chicago Polish (the picture is Gen Thaddeus Kosciousko), From the earliest time of my life I was was urged to detest everything that had anything to do with the Bears or Cubs. My Dad took me to Comisky Park the same day Fr. Paholski baptized me so I'd stay on the right path all my life. I've managed to do so for over 50 years now (and through three cities!)
No one, and I repeat no one, can be a Cardinals & Bears fan at the same time. And as for the Cubs. I can proudly say I've never been to one of their games in my life. In fact the best thing I can say about Wrigley Field is that is is so far from my house!

They're still the Chicago Cardinals to me. It's just that they play all of their games on the road.

Why not just call me by name? I don't care. I am 35 years old and until I moved to AZ, I didn't give the Cards a 2nd thought, therefore it is possible for a person to be a Bears and Cards fan all at once. I had no hatred for the Cards since I was a Bears fan.
As for the AAA team on the southside with their concrete jungle stadium, well you can have them

He was at the game last week. He'll be there Sunday. I believe he said something about tailgating with our friend Mr. Sauza Hornitos and some fresh limes from my tree.
