I am a Cardinals fan since mid 70sand I am from Missouri. When they played in St. Louis they were referred to as the Big Red to differentiate from baseball team. So you get BigRedMO
My real name is Jeremiah but in fourth grade my best friend declared I was now Jerry, a 50% increase in syllable efficiency! "P" is my last initial and I use jerryp for logins because if you spent 9 hours a day on a command line, you'd detest mixing upper and lower case too.
I started watching football in the time known as the 80's with my step-father. My seething hatred for all things Dolphins and Cowboys was due to his influence. Thanks dad!
My mother and I were both born in Los Angeles, but due to her being the Air Force we moved to the Adirondacks (New York) when I was 1. She loves all Los Angeles teams so I followed suit when I was a child. I was a die hard Rams fan in the late 80's and was until they bailed on LA following the '94 season. When that happened I decided to like the next closest team, which is San Diego (Raiders bailed then too). Since at that point in my life, only one AFC team had won the Super Bowl, when I was 1, so being the punk kid that I was I decided to root for the next closest NFC team. Little did I know...
Obviously, the highlight of my Cardinal rooting days was the Jan 2nd Wildcard game. I had to work that day, but anyone who came into the grocery store I worked in that knew my love of the Cards updated me on the score. My step-father even taped the last quarter for me. This is how I know my step-father loves me, because the man for the life of him cannot operate a VCR.
I am now stuck in Buffalo, NY, where at least hating the Dolphins lets me fit in. My goal is to have enough money saved to move to AZ before the start of the 2006 season, when the new stadium opens. Even if that falls through I look forward to meeting you guys at the first game in the stadium that I will be attending even if I have to start walking there in June.
I'll personally be contacting maddogkf for payment of my medical bills when I attend the Cards@Bills game this fall wearing my Cards jersey and authentic Logo Atheletic Cards hat circa 1995.
Sorry for morphing this into a "how I became a Cards fan" thread, but I wanted to make sure everyone knows I have liked the Cards for almost ten years now and it's not just some infatuation with Denny Green.
ARVOS,
Im a police canine handler as well. My Belgium Malinios is named "Dano". Private Message me your email address and we can swap pictures if you want.
Oh, my screename came from the 1998 season when the AZ Cardinals became "AZCardsWin" when they beat Dallas in the playoffs!
Go Cards/ America!
