D-Back,
What-ya like? Car, SUV, SUT or mini-van?
Suggest never buying 1st model year cars i.e. the 2007 Mustang has the bugs worked out from the 2005 model.

i just went through this process myself. look on autotrader.com or azcentral.com. definitely go with a toyota corolla. they are really dependable, you get at least 150k+ out of them and they are basic enough that you should be able to get a really good one used in your price range. camrys are good too, but you'll end up paying more for the fact that the car cost more new.

My Saturn SC2 went to 160K before I sold it. My aunt had the sedan. She sold it to my other aunt at 130K and it is still going strong. Good car.

Saturns are solid and I also can't complain about the reliability of my Nissan Sentra.

I would secure a loan from one of the local credit unions and then shop through craigslist or the auto trader. You get so ripped off going to a dealer for a used car.

Was she driving it in reverse? Why would it be 30k less?

I think they're two different cars, silly. Wendy had the SC2 and her aunt had the sedan.
