Two Peso's...remembering....
*sigh*
Anyone else miss that place? I loved Two Peso's! We went to the one on McClintock & Southern all the time! It was my favorite place!!
add to that list, gone but not forgotten:
Cluck-U Papillions (original on Apache in Tempe) The Dash (on Apache) BRB Cantina (on Apache) New Peking (on Southern & Dobson in Mesa across from MCC) Dick's Drive-In (before Cluck-U) Flakey Jake's Jack Daniel's Whiskey River BBQ (where Papa John's is on University & Stadium) Ozzie's Warehouse (on University across from ASU)
Also I heard that Long Wong's & Cafe Boa are closing down next month as part of a new complex going in on Mill.
Damn Taco Cabana for closing Two Peso's down.

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but is an honor that most businesses would gladly forego. Just ask Taco Cabana. After opening a very successful chain of Mexican restaurants, Taco Cabana discovered that a competitor, Two Pesos, had copied Taco Cabana's restaurant layout and interior designs.
However, Taco Cabana didn't sit idly by. It filed a lawsuit against Two Pesos. And while the distinguishing features of Mexican restaurant decor may be imperceptible to many, the United States Supreme Court, in the landmark decision of Two Pesos v. Taco Cabana, upheld a jury's finding that Two Pesos infringed upon Taco Cabana's inherently distinctive trade dress, and ordered Two Pesos to pay Taco Cabana nearly three million dollars. This decision, along with other judicial decisions and statutes, is part of the growing body of trademark, service mark, and trade dress law. These laws protect businesses and the public against the concurrent use of confusingly similar identifying marks or characteristics by competitors.

The last time I ate at Two Pesos (at McClintock and Southern), the pretty much dumped a salt shaker on my food. It was one of the most horrible meals I'd ever had.

It got bad IMO near the end.
I miss it too Maddog. When I first moved out here, my family used to eat there all the time. Probably some of the better fast Mexican in the valley.

That would be The Dash - also the place where I slammed a pitcher of beer....but someone dumped a bottle of hot sauce in it....so I puked it up back into the pitcher....and then drank that
It's also the place where we started off the night when I broke my front two teeth on the curb...

So, don't ask me how I found this thread.
But, damn that's a lot of memories! I loved Two Pesos. Absolutely lived at Flakey Jakes for 2 years. Bartenders knew we were underage but we tipped well so they looked the other way. Watched as my buddy ate the atomic wings at Cluck-U to get his pic on the wall (how cruel was it that they put a glass of water in front of you?).
The Dash, Edsel's Attic, Balboa Cafe, Gibson's, Cannery Row, Timberwolf...
Amazing how much Tempe has changed in just a decade...
My Two Peso memory is a good one. I grew up on Baseline and Price starting in 1978. My brother loved that place, I didn't go there too often, but did go shortly before they closed. We would ALWAYS get the Fajitas (which were AWESOME). Anyways, I ran to get it to take back to my mom's house for my brother and his friend.
Plastic bag of chips, containers of fajita meat and tortillas, a two litre of Dr. Pepper (that I picked up at Walgreens right there). The crazy part was, I used to have a crotch rocket so I had the bag of chips in my mouth, and managed the rest of the stuff on my cargo net and the two litre between my legs.
I do have to point out there is a Two Pesos in Tucson, which I went to the last time I was down there when my ex used to go to U of A (2003), but it wasn't the same.
