No, they do. In the 80's some of the things France did to Action Directe (a Soviet sponsored terrorist group) would make your hair turn white.

They apparently just don't support the US stopping their under the table deals with Saddam.

And, if I recall correctly, they were targets of Algerian terrorists due to their colonialism...right?

But it has been a long time since Action Directe has been a name on the lips of the French so that generation is no longer in power there.

I do agree though they are largely looking out for their own interests above the interests of the world in general.
