TV went out yesterday

I bought a 60 inch Mitsubishi Big Screen in Feb 1998. I also bought the extended warranty for a whopping 450.00 bringing the grand total to 3650.00 which also brought me up to a total of 7 years warranty coverage.

Well yesterday I turn on the TV and it looks like a spaghetti plate of colors going across the screen. In my sad attempt to make sure it wasnt the TV and secretly praying it was the DirectV Reciever. I put a DVD in and to no avail the colors were still flying around the screen. So it had to be the TV.

Well as you can see by the dates they suckered me right into that warranty. I am one month past being able to get it fixed for free! So to fix the problem it is going to cost approx. six to seven hundred dollars out of pocket.

Well I decided that it was to much to spend on a 7 year TV with no warranty remaining. So the good news is I went out yesterday and with the incredible easter sales going on I got a great deal on Brand spanking new JVC 55 inch widescreen with HDTV.

Total cost 1780.00 with yet another extended warranty. suckered me in for a mere 179.00 this time. I downgraded by 5 inches but upgraded to HD and widescreen format! Its Amazing the price differences in the last 7 years.

Entended warranties...I swear there's a built in mechanism set to destroy the product after it expires.

Bought a used 1992 Camry, and paid $800 for an 4/yr 75,000 mile warranty. Over the course of time, an accident and several rack-n-pinions and I basically had a complete new engine and drivetrain. I was happy I bought the warranty as the amount of repairs over the years came to around $8500 and cost me about $200 out of pocket. About a month before it was due to expire, I took it in and said "find what's wrong and let the warranty company fix it". Gave the car to my oldest son for graduation so he could get to work and school. One day, ONE DAY after the warranty expires, he calls me on the way from work saying the engine is knocking. Manages to get it home, but of course the oil pump failed and I now have engine damage. Course he fails to mention that the oil light's been coming on for a couple of days prior.

I also had a 85 Ford E150 Custom Van. For three straight years, the van broke down on the same day I received my tax refund. No lie.

Shane, you are gonna love HD. You will be able to read the numbers on the football players backs even with the wide shots and actually see fans faces in the crowd.

You guys just have to know how to abuse the warrenties. Actually, at Circuit City we can get fired for calling them warrenties. They are performance guarentees. We guartentee the TV will look as good and and sound as good as it did when you first bought it for the term of the guarentee. That being said, if you buy a TV from CC and buy the guarentee, you call up every year and say the TV doesn't look as good and have someone come out if its a projection TV, where they will realign and clean the projection CRTs. That being said, sounds like you had a convergence issue shane.
