The grass is always greener......

OK, so I recently bought my first house. I realize some of you AZ guys only have pebbles & cactus in your front yard but, for those of you who do have grass, what is your key to a nice plush green lawn? How often/when do you water it? Any other tips?

I saw this last year and tried it, it is absolutely amazing.....

You mix these chemicals from around your house and spray it on your lawn and it really works

I've seen that done before. One side effect is that pigeons love that stuff and will congregate at your house by the hundreds.

Go to your local nursery, tell them where you live, then have them recommend a fertilizer for your type soil. You'll also need weed killer. Water and mow often.

Or ...

Put in desert landscaping, some nice shrubs/trees with a drip system, then spend your weekends watching sports on TV.

Goats. They'll mow your lawn and fertilize it at the same time.

Are you serious??

Does this really work?

I dont want to do this then all of a sudden everything dies!

Who has tried this?

Right now I water the hell out of my lawn up here, and since we are on restrictions the water company makes me pay a pretty penny once I go over 6000 gallons!

Lawns are too much maintenance, just go with astroturf.

Well, Could be all the bird seed I threw on his roof, but I'm sure the fertilizer didn't help.

I did it last year and it worked for me great!! I haven't done it this year, mostly because we have an automatic sprinkler system in my new yard and some guy comes and cuts the front so I don't even think about it any more

The crickets in my lawn would complain as it would lead to too many injuries. How about field turf?

As long as crickets don't have ACLs they should be ok but I've heard great things about grassy turf. Or you could just paint the sand and gravel green and tell people it's grass. If they act skeptical offer them water and act like they're hallucinating.

You want to water in the evening or early morning to avoid evaporation. I water 2 times a week for 15 minutes, but am going to bump it up to 3 here pretty quick.

I buy the Scotts stuff, they have seasonal bags and instructions on the back, from Home Depot and a bag of ironite.

And then spray weed and feed on it a couple of times a year.

Grass is green.
