I really would have liked to gotten in on that conversation.
For some odd reason Ian closed it I read through it and It was pretty friendly harmless debating going on. Certainly nothing I would call degenerating.

So what do you think Shane? I have seen it first hand and was asked if I wanted to be Tased cause the cop was tasing some guy 110lbs who was just shaking on the ground cause I told him he had enough. I would love to hear your side and possibly some tasing stories!!!
I'm sorry Shane, but some people have seen the bad side of police. And, I think that is what Gee was trying to express.
First of all, I think police, as a whole, have an extemely difficult job and I'm glad people are willing to do it. They help a lot more people than they hurt. By far.
But, I personally witnessed an incident about ten years ago that changed my perspective. Before then, I would've said the same thing that some of those people on that thread said. "Don't do anything wrong, and you won't have anything to worry about." But, I saw what I saw. I saw officers and jailers flat out lie, on the witness stand. They lied in their police report. The reason they lied was to justify an arrest they should never have made. It was in Tempe, and the person was my uncle, who was in town for the Holidays. The stupid part was, the were such poor liars the case was tossed out by the judge. It was TRULY ridiculous. The judge even urged my uncle to pursue a complaint or lawsuit. He never did so, even though we alse encouraged him to do so, so those guys would've been punsihed somehow.
So yeah, I now believe cops could get out of control tasering people. After all, they're just people to, and people screw up. No exceptions.

Gee was not trying to express the bad side of police when he made the statement above that I quoted.
There is no doubt that there are bad cops. I have witnessed it myself amongst co-workers. Its rare. But it does happen. Im sorry about your uncles situation. He certainly should have taken legal action, that is the only way to stop things such as that from occuring again.
I just find it funny with all the second guessing of police in the thread when absolutely nobody in here has a clue what we go through on a day to day or call to call basis. The incident described by Diehard certainly sounds like an overzealous(spelling) cop. But I also know many citizens who only see things through their eyes and not the whole picture. Things can tend to get skewed by citizens and sometimes police as well. Cops are trained to try and weed throught the BS and get the bottom of what happened or whats happening. In short I am going to give the cop the benefit of the doubt 9 out of 10 times. Not just because I am one either.

Well when you are tased you cant just tell a cop he has had enough. The person being tased gets a full 5 second ride each and everytime the trigger is pulled. That is what is considered the optimal time for the Taser to be most effective. I am a firm beliver in the taser. Overall it keeps suspects and cops alike from being hurt like they would when you have to go hands on.
