Spiders and sinks?

Can anybody explain why it's so common to find spiders in your kitchen or bathroom sink? Do they want water, are they just coming in by crawling up the outside of the pipe, what is it about the sink that is so irresistible to spiders?

I hate spiders.

Could it be as simple as a spider can crawl in, but can't cling to the smooth porcelin well enough to get out?

You are too smart...you've answered all the questions.

Now the topic should shift to SpiderMan.

Could be but why are they in there in the first place?

And yes, I came downstairs this morning to find a nice fat spider in the kitchen sink which is what prompted this question.

Maybe they're just passing through and aren't actually in the sink as a destination. Why are they sometimes in the middle of a wall? It's happenstance, it's just that they can't get out, so it seems like they want to be there.
