I bet he has Asperger's Syndrome. For those that don't know its basically a high functioning autism. People who have it tend to be very bright, but very socially awkward.

I think that's a cop-out...this kid is socially awkward because he's been holed up in his parents house all his life and has no idea how to interact with other people. Not all homeschooled kids are like this and some parents do the right thing by getting their kids involved in things outside the house.

I'm so tired of people making excuses for kids these days, parents need to take responsibility, the kids need to take responsibility and we need to stop making up illnesses/issues for them to use as a crutch.

I like the kid...

Nothing shows how insignificant a competition is more than the champion not even caring that he won. (not demeaning the spelling bee - just in the grand scope of it all it just is not that big of a deal)
