Speed limit

Does anyone know why the speed limit on the 51 is 55mph and the I-17 is 65mph?

My guess would be that the 51 is a state road, where as the i-17 is part of the interstate highway system.

Because one is a Freeway and one is an Interstate?

If it makes you feel any better the I-17 ranges from 55 to 75. In the city areas it's 55, but once you hit around Dunlap it goes to 65. Then once you're out by New River-ish it hits 75.

Yep, 32 speaks the truth. Actually, I *think* it goes to 75 between Carefree Highway and Anthem Way.

The speed limit signs technically don't say it's an upside limit. I always figure it means "don't drive slower than this number".

I'd love to hear this from Shane H, just for clarification. I always thought inside of 10 over you are ok, but I got pulled over once for doing less than that.

Shane would have a field day with me now that I got my Mustang.

I don't have to go fast, but I certainly like getting to 65 (okay.. okay 75....uhh 80) as quick as possible!!!
