Ok, so my girlfriend and I decided to go out on Wednesday night to have fun with some of her friends. We ate at Chilis down on Mill Ave. and decided to go watching some girls (read: strippers) dance (read: get mostly naked).
We went to a nice little dance club called Christie's Cabaret on Baseline (which sucked BTW compared to the other Christies). We stayed and drank until closing, and then decided to drive over to Dream Palace.
So we get to Dream Palace, pay the entry fee, and get our soft drinks (no alcohol...BOOO!) at the bar. After that, we made our way to the front of the stage. On the way, I noticed that one of the strippers was some of my friends (two of my guy friends from years ago) little sister! I've known the girl since she was 8 years old or so, and now she's a stripper! Very awkward.
I went over and talked to her, and I could tell she was a little embarrassed. I also noticed that another girl that worked there, was a class behind me in high school.
I've felt a little strange since I saw her there. I mean, I know her entire family, her mom, her dad, her brothers. And to see her pretty much naked dancing, made me sick to my stomach.

I dunno...to each their own. There was this girl that was the younger sister of a guy who ran around in our group & she "performed" at one of the all nude places. Didn;t bother me watching her

But did you know her since she was a little girl? That's probably my biggest problem with it.
She actually looked pretty good though, and we gave her probably $40-$50 in tips.

I have never been able to go to those establishments and I have never been able to understand how others do... The feelings that you state here are exactly why I can't do it... Every guy has a mother, a sister, a daughter or a some female relationship in their life...
When I was younger my friends always wanted to go to these places and I could never get past the, "what do her family or kids (if she has them) think about this" thing... Now that I have a daughter and I see something like this in a show on TV or at the movies my stomach turns, thinking about her poor father...
I know it is somewhat unrealistic as I am sure there are fathers that would gladly send their daughters off to do this for income but overall ugh...

I don't disagree. We actually treat the girls very decently. My girlfriend is friends with a lot of them, as she sort of works in the sex industry.
Many of the girls love what they do from what they tell me.

You've hit on the strange dichotomy on the human male. In our minds, it's ok to partake in all manners of adult entertainment until is involves a woman to we personally know, then it freaks us out.
It's every decent father's nightmare to have their "little girl" working in the adult industry. God knows it scares the **** out of me! (my daughter turned 18 last October )
One question I have for you Krang, and if it's too personal tell me to STFU, but have you ever met your girlfriend's parents? Do they know what line of work she is in?
I don't think you should feel uncomfortable. I know women in the industry, and I never feel uncomfortable around them. Most of the women I talk to don't feel uncomfortable unless you are drooling, pitching a tent, or something that would make it an awkward situation. They get used to it after a while.
Unless she is ashamed of what she does, she'll get over it. Become better friends with her and she'll bring her stripper friends around.
I knew some girls that were "in the industry" long before they got into it. It was awkward at first, but like above, of they aren't ashamed, then no problem.
Alot of girls I know put themselves through college that way.
