So, what's the best way to sell baseball cards?
My bud Jason has a ton of really good baseball cards. They're all in mint condition, in those big plastic 3-ring-binder pages. We've looked on Ebay & there doesn't seem to be much of a market there, & he doesn't want to chance getting screwed at a local card shop. I suggested maybe a card show or a trip to Vegas to the big collectibles stores, but that's all I can think of.
So you guys that have cards you've sold in the past, how'd you do it & what do you suggest?

I sold a few cards in the mid-90s, some Penny Hardaway inserts at the peak of his popularity. I would imagine someone would give your friend money for the whole lot, but it doesnt seem like there is much of a market at all. I've read that the same thing has happened with comic books; all the popular titles are already owned by the very collectors who would possibly want them.

A card shop in Tucson screwed me royally when I was 16, but I dont want to talk about that.

Unless you have rookie cards of big name players or autographs you will not get too much.

When I was in 2nd grade, I had a Shaq rookie card. And some mean 6th grader suckered me into trading it for his Clarence Weatherspoon card.
Sorry, I just had to get that out.

I don't think Shaq was even born when I was in 2nd grade...
(slight exaggeration, but you get my point)
edit: I was 20 YEARS OLD when Shaq was a rookie!!!!

I collected a lot of basketball cares 1990-1993. I haven't looked at them in about ten years and pulled them out just now. Starring at me in the face is a 1973-1974 Los Angeles Lakers "Team leaders" card. Some of the other stuff I have is a little weird. I have a Hank Gathers memorial card. I have an autographed Fat Lever card. I have an autographed Chris Mullin card that I swear says "To: Andy, my new friend." My name is not Andy. For some reason I treated draft cards special. I have a Luc Longley draft lottery card. I also have a very strange Kevin Johnson card about fighting forest fires. Oh, and I do have a couple of Shaq rookie cards. My real prize is a Pete Maravich rookie card.

If it makes you feel better, the dad of an ex of mine used to drive the bus for the Phillies. He'd take his son's bball cards to work, bring them back signed and give them to his son. He had all kinds of great cards ... Schmidt, Rose. Sad thing is, the dad was too much of a ween to actually ask the players to sign them, so the dad just forged the signatures. How lame is that?

I have a Michael Jordan autographed card that i had signed by him personally. I tried to sell it when i was in college because I was flat broke.... everybody said it was a fake, even the schmos on Ebay.
I was right there when he signed it
