I am crossing 2nd at Van Buren on my way to work this morning with a "walk" sign clearly illuminated. There is a lot of foot traffic around there in the morning because the Catholic Church there hands out food to the homeless people. Anyway, I start crossing, in the crosswalk, with the light and a huge school bus is turning left. I figure he is going to stop and not put his ass out in traffic. I was wrong. He steps on it and comes lumbering right at me. I took two big steps and a little hop step and was missed by about 3 feet. The asshole driver then proceeds to just sit there stopped. I point at him and then at the "walk" signal. Some youngish homeless guy says "He's lookin' at you like it was your fault!". We laugh and I go on my way.
Nothing like realizing how much impact a bus would have on your body to get your juices flowing!
