Screw my degree, screw teaching
I'm so frustrated. I'm trying to find a teaching job but principals post jobs then bring in their friends to fill those posts without interviewing anyone else. They only post the jobs because they have to. So many of my friends are still without jobs.. The teaching shortage is a lie.
What else can I do with my degree? Anyone know of any jobs I can apply for? They'll probably pay more than I would have made as a teacher anyway.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. Have you tried the charter schools, too? Teaching is a noble profession--keep trying. There aren't enough GOOD teachers out there!

Did you try the Deer Valley School District. It isnt really the west side but it isnt the east side either. Huge school district, one of the biggest in the state if memory serves me right. When I worked for them a few years back they were so desperate for teachers they were going to out of state job fairs in Nevada, Cali, New Mexico, Utah looking for qualified people.

I think it’s pretty normal to hire acquaintances first. There will be plenty of teachers changing jobs over the summer, so you should see a huge wave of openings soon. My wife is a teacher (in the west valley) and she was stressing two years ago when she was trying to find her first job out there. However, by the end of the summer, I would just about guarantee that you will have a job. It just might not be the exact grade level that you prefer.

No opening for history teachers. I really wanted to get a job in the Peoria school district but they are the worst when it comes to hiring principal friends..

Gave a call to my contacts I still sort of have. I dont have any pull anymore but I still know people that I can get info from.
Call Sandra Day O'Connor High School. Pretty much a brand new school.
They have an American History spot open.
They just posted it May 22nd. I know for a fact it isnt closed yet becuase they have to keep it open for interviews for some time as it is policy to do so.
