Save water!
I am a huge buff on water conservation and just wanted to pass along some tips on saving water...and money. I drive my wife crazy with my analretentiveness
Fill up an old milk jug with water and put in in the back of your toilet basin, a couple of bricks work too. This saves us $$$ every month and countless gallons of water everytime we flush.
Don't wash your car in your driveway!! I saw so many people doing that this weekend. Take it to a gas station or one of those self service places.
(This one is for my wife) Don't run the faucet while you are brushing your teeth...and put the cap back on the toothpaste
Anyone else have some good tips?

Not that I would advocate this, but a co-worker used the
"If it's brown, it's down - If it's yellow, it's mellow" approach to save water in the toliet......

Arizona is removing water from the ground table twice as fast as nature can replace it.
I'd rather use a brick than allow waste to sit in my toilet.
Also, with summer coming, water your flowers, garden and lawn at night so that the sun does not evaporate the water as quickly.

Sure you can green machine, look at it this way. When we finally run out of water, you'll have plenty of backstock.
The last time I read something about this, our reservoirs and lakes were at 17% capacity. That is dangerously low.
We're also getting slighted by El Nino this year. The high pressure over this state is constantly pushing the storms to the north and they are missing us.
It is supposed to cool off this weekend, but there is still not a drop of rain in sight.

Actually one of the metorologists who work for SRP claims that we are in store for a very wet March and April ... I hope he is right.

Shower with your spouse. Hmmm. Nevermind...that takes longer than 2 individual showers.
BTW: Glad we can all conserve water. We need to keep the Town Lake full and our golf courses green.

FYI - almost all of the golf courses here are watered by RECLAIMED water.
There are several projects going on now that actually re-inject reclaimed water back into the acquifer.

Phoenix has a good supply of water - Lake Powell. And we have been injecting the excess allocation from the CAP into acquifers.
What would really save water is if we could stop the farmers from using their federally subsidized water to grow crops like alfalfa that have federal price supports and subsidies - taxpayers take a double bath on that one.

When was the last time you were at Lake Powell? It's way down as well.

It still has a three to four year supply for AZ, CA and NV, even if there was no more run-off feeding into it.

Hey guys, come to Jersey and bring your buckets. You can have all the rain water you like. I haven't been to the beach ONCE this season. Sucks.
Her's one that might seem weird, so feel free to ignore: After boiling water for pasta, corn on the cob, etc., use the water to water plants. They like the nutrients and it saves water.
