Not that I would advocate this, but a co-worker used the
"If it's brown, it's down - If it's yellow, it's mellow" approach to save water in the toliet......

Phoenix has a good supply of water - Lake Powell. And we have been injecting the excess allocation from the CAP into acquifers.
What would really save water is if we could stop the farmers from using their federally subsidized water to grow crops like alfalfa that have federal price supports and subsidies - taxpayers take a double bath on that one.
Actually alfalfa is a commonly misunderstood crop, it helps feed much of the world and is not wasteful...
Why not wash your car in the driveway i use a lot less water that way than at car washes. use a bucket and sponges.
It's difficult to use the sponge and bucket here in AZ because we have such a dry climate the water evaporates very quickly. Even in the winter months..... so we end up using more water continuously keeping the car wet.
I bought that Mr. Clean Autowash system that says you won't have to towel dry your car and I end up using even less water with that thing

Just drive your car into one of the canals. It's a little awkward trying to get it out, but it will stay wet while it's in there.
