Hey gang. I close on my new house in Anthem in 2 weeks and the house has a east/west orientation, meaning my kitchen, great room and breakfast nook are going to get baked by the afternoon and evening sun since the 71" x 96" sliding glass door and 58" x 94" window face due west.
Does anyone know anything about residential window tint? If so, please do tell.

I recommend awnings - keep the sun off the windows in the 1st place.
If you have the double pane windows - they are pretty good at blocking heat transfer.

I would check with your HOA before you do this. I was suprised to find out that certain window treatments are explicitly banned in my HOA, as outlined in "the book". Window tinting was listed as a banned substance.
I have a window that shines light directly onto my thermostat and looked at tinting as an option. I have since gone with faux shutters
We had window tint done in our last house and loved it. It wasn't cheap because we bought the higher end stuff - but it was awesome during the summer time.
The only drawback is that at night the tint will act like a mirror so you can't see outside when the lights are on.
