Question on cell phones

My contract is almost up with Sprint and I want to look for new deals, from Sprint and others like Verizon and Cingular. Mostly I want 3 new phones (we have a family share dealy) but I don't want to pay a bunch for them.

The main question I have is this: Is it better to try to go through the companies themselves (Sprint stores or website, Verizon stores or website, etc.) or these third party businesses who peddle the exact same thing? I'm a little leery on the latter but if I can get a better deal with no decrease in quality I might be open to it.

Thanks.

I have found the third party business usually can give good discounts on the phone and hardware (i.e. car charger, case, etc)...but not much on the actual rate plans (whic seems to change on a monthly/quarterly basis).

I usually first educate myself through the websites (sprint, verizon, etc.) to see what phone rate plans they have out there. So if you do go with a third party you'll know if the costs match what the actual companies are advertising.

Just go to the verizon website, or call them. I travel all over NM and verizon seems to have the best coverage. I have used a bunch of different providers in the past.

Not really sure Sean, but I can tell you that both, Verizon and Cingular are hell of a lot better than Sprint. I haven't had any trouble so far with Verizon. Cingular is very strong now that they bought AT&T. Not sure how much you talk, but if you get a $60 per month deal, Cingular gives you nights starting at 7.

Verizon will give you a hell of a deal as a new customer. I'd recommend going to Radio Shack or Circuit City. Less hussle, don't have to worry about shipping charges, etc, you should be able to get the same plan and better deal on accesories.

I've had Verizon for almost 2 years and I've never really had a problem with them.

Fair prices, too.

You may want to look here:

You can actually make money on the phones themselves. I think you have to sign up for a service plan, but since you're shopping, might as well take a look.
