Pretty Cool...

More than 1,000 Starbucks patrons treat next in line

Associated Press
Dec. 22, 2007 09:11 AM
MARYSVILLE, Wash. - One woman's kindness to a fellow Starbucks patron resulted in more than a thousand others spreading the holiday-season generosity in this northwest Washington town.

A regular patron at the chain had paid for the person in line behind her a few times before, according to the Everett Herald. But on Wednesday, her good deed set off a chain of 1,013 customers paying for the next person's drink.

Many coffee shop patrons tacked on an extra $10 or $20, which shift manager Sarah Nix said Starbucks Corp. will donate to its ongoing holiday toy drive.

Last Friday - the librarian where I work had her coffee paid for by the woman in the vehicle ahead of her so she paid for the person after her.

I've done that before. Some people look at you like you're nuts. Others seem surprised that someone would do something like that for a strange.

If you're ever on a road where you have to pay a toll, pay for the person behind you. It's pretty cool to see their reaction.

Wonder who the dolt was that ended the chain? The whole store must have sighed as the person accepted their free coffee drink and pocketed their cash.

Unless the chain ended because traffic slowed and their was no one to pay for behind that person...or the store closed to end the chain. You can only pay for the person behind you if someone is behind you in line and already ordered, unless you just give a random amount...

They must have gotten random amounts cuz there's no way over a 1000 people in a row went to one starbucks in a small town.
