Please Help

O.k. im not a computer junkie or anything and this may seem stupid but

The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again.

it keeps saying that when i try and get an avatar please help

This is going to sound stupid, but try making sure that the image file has a .jpg or .gif extension.

If it's a .bmp or .tif or something like that, open it up in Photoshop, or MS Paint and Save As a .gif.
