Pat's Run

Haven't seen anything about this.

Quote:
Happy New Year from the Pat Tillman Foundation!

As you make your final resolutions for 2006, make the commitment to Resolve to Run and join us for Pat's Run!

Pat's Run is a 4.2 run and walk plus a .42 mile kids run allowing runners, joggers, non-runners, walkers, and kids to celebrate Pat's life by actively doing something positive. At the inaugural run on April 16, 2005, over 6,000 participants and volunteers came together to create a truly unique event at Arizona State University, raising more than $150,000 for the foundation.

All proceeds for Pat's Run benefit the foundation's Leadership Through Action Initiative.

For 2006, the foundation is pleased to host Pat's Run in Tempe, Arizona and in Pat's hometown San Jose, California. Mark your calendar and join us!

I was so mad last year. I got pnuemonia a week before the run. That was something I really wanted to do last year. I am thinking seriously of doing it this year.

I still have a gut feeling Shaq will be better next season (2008/2009) after our docs have a full off season to work their magic on the Big Saguaro!

DO IT!!!!

I did my own version here in Jersey that day. Had friends donate $20 to the foundation, mapped a route and then came back to my place for Guinness and pizza. A bunch of people wore #40 jerseys/t-shirts. Looked pretty cool all of us going through the neighborhood. Good times!

Anyone else going to this - it's tommorrow - i tried to register online earlier in the week and it threw us into the kids run for some reason?!?! - so we will have to re-register at the event in the morning

If you aren't registered it can be done from 6:30-7:45

race starts at 8am and there is plenty of time to walk it or run it

i'll probably be doing a combination thereof, as I'm ridiculously out of shape right now

I did it last year, but will be sitting it out this year. I blame the lack of cardio training, Easter and not wanting to run it by myself again.

an incredible time this morning - turnout was great (must of been around 10,000) - ran a little over half of it with the wife and finished strong

pretty well organized - all ages, shapes and sizes out there .... many strollers & dogs as well

there was a group of army guys running in cadence with their flag, which was pretty cool, along with a couple guys in their gear (including one guy with a pack)

just a really enjoyable scene - the sun was hot, but all in all the weather was great - they had a few music stations and water/gatorade stations set up as well

each mile marker had a picture of pat and the first mile marker had the emerson quote

running into the stadium was really cool as well - sparky & big red were there to slap your hands on the way bye, and the ASU football team was waiting inside to slap your hand and shout encouragement - just a cool feeling and the field at SDS is very nice

i'm definitely doing this next year and making sure i get preregistered (big walkup crowd) - i encourage anyone who has any interest in the foundation to show up next year - there were many people just walking it with their family, friends & pets - not an ultra competative vibe at all

I posted Paola Boivin's article about the Foundation on the P&R forum -- I'm going to make a solid donation to the Pat Tillman Foundation this year. Good work is being done in Pat's name.

My heart still breaks. Y'know?

yep, I do

the foundation and the scholarship are great causes - encouraging and enabling students to make a difference in their communities - a skill set that would serve everyone great in life
