Not meant to be a scrooge...

I do not want to offend anyone and only raise this question because of the nature of my profession but has anyone verified that phillycard is legit? Does anyone know this person, or are they sure that philly really is philly.

Without going into specifics, there are a couple of "red flags" that went up after reading all of the postings that made me wonder if everyone was being taken to the cleaners.

I hope that I am wrong, but in my profession I have seen all kinds of scams and don't want to see anyone getting ripped off.

Gotta give the guy the benefit of the doubt....this isn't something that had time to be researched, he needed help and needed it now, we stepped up.

I've known Deric, via message boards, for about 5 years. He was a long time poster on Cardfanatic's old board, and he has always been consistent in how he presented himself.

You don't, and that is my point. Some people prey on the good will and generosity of others.

As I said, I don't want to offend anyone but be careful.

I agree. If you've got $10-$20 (or more) and can freely give it to someone you believe is in need, I don't think you can hold back. It's more about the motivation of our collective hearts than anything. Over time you might get scammed a time or two, but it doesn't change your motivation for the giving.

certainly can understand the cause for concern. I would say that there is no way I would have ever thought of asking complete strangers for money on a message board.

I think that it is a true story and even if not, so be it. If someone was brave enough to ask and others gave out of the kindnest of their hearts, then I say GIT ER DONE.

GOD BLESS

$40 isn't a big deal...if it's a scam, then so be it...but I had $40 to give to someone in need and I'll take the chance that they truly need it.
