That's freaking amazing and will probably be the gadget of the year. With a large, tilt sensitive touch screen, built in iPod, full web capabilities, and OS X, that has to carry a hefty price tag. Supposedly the 4gb will cost $499 and the 8gb will cost $599.

/adds another gadget to my list of "things I will never own..." sigh.
Any idea of what the monthly service charge will be? I'm pretty clueless to this stuff. I've always bought the cheapest phone and carried the cheapest plan offered.
I've been thinking about buying an ipod and this thing looks pretty cool.
With Cingular I get 900 anytime minutes with free night and weekends, unlimited data and 100 text messages a month for about $80. This is done through my company though and I think I get 10% off the monthly, but that's a ballpark figure for what the operating costs on a smart-phone are like.
From what I've heard from people who are at Apple, don't buy the first generation one it has bugs that are still being uncovered.
FYI same is true with the new safari browser they've already found 8 security holes some of which apparently are "huge". This was known internally they were under tremendous pressure to get safari out there, they just weren't expecting such a quick outing for security holes and now they're scrambling to deflect criticism.
