Man killed, eaten by the Grizzlies he loved

Can you say Darwin Award winner. This guy had his heart in the right place, but absolutely no brains. Grizzlies are wild animals, no matter how much you think you know them. This guy was an idiot, who ended up getting two of the bears he "loved" killed.

http://www.adn.com/front/story/4110831p-4127072c.html

From article:
"A self-proclaimed eco-warrior, he attracted something of a cult following too. Chuck Bartlebaugh of "Be Bear Aware,'' a national bear awareness campaign, called Treadwell one of the leaders of a group of people engaged in "a trend to promote getting close to bears to show they were not dangerous."

"I told him to be much more cautious ... because every time a bear kills somebody, there is a big increase in bearanoia and bears get killed,'' Miller said. "I thought that would be a way of getting to him, and his response was 'I would be honored to end up in bear scat.' '' - I wonder if he felt honored as the bear was eating him alive?

The Dead Guy's home page:
http://www.grizzlypeople.com/home.php
From the site:
Grizzly People is a grassroots organization devoted to preserving bears and their wilderness habitat. Our goal is to elevate the grizzly to the kindred state of the whale and dolphin through supportive education in the hopes that humans will learn to live in peace with the bear, wilderness and fellow humans.

You really think so, or are you willfully participating in a campaign of misinformation?

What an idiot.

I love bears too, and believe that we should do as much as possible to protect them and their habitat, but I wouldn't get within 500 yards of a wild grizzly.

All recorded on tape:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/West/10/0....ap/index.html

The graphic sounds of a deadly bear attack in the Alaska wilderness were captured on tape, revealing a wildlife author's final, frantic screams as he tried to fend off the beast, authorities said Wednesday.

I also have a picture of one of the dudes that the bear mauled. I'm not sure if I should post it. It's pretty gnarly!!!!

Let me know if you want to see it. Maybe I'll post it, and the mods can delete it if they want.
