Thumbs up

Los Dos Molinos

For my birthday this weekend, the wife & I are going to Los Dos Molinos in Mesa for dinner

We are meeting some friends & going to have hot Mexican & cold cerveza! I love that place! The hotter the better!

I just looked on their website & it looks like they opened up one in NYC!

Any of you guys in NY - go there! They have the best hatch valley chili recipes!

Los Dos is amazing.

The funny thing is that the location is god awful. It looks like it is part of the auto body shop. But the food is gooooooood.

The one in NYC has been open for a little while. When we played the Giants in 2001, some of our travel party went there.

Been there several times. Its a great reminder of the kind of mexican cooking I miss from the Southwest.

And finding good mexican in NYC is outrageously difficult.

I had no idea that was there in NYC....when I lived there I was DYING for good Mex food and we could not find any. My girlfriend made a huge spread of Sonoran style Mexican for my birthday in 2002. It was sooooo Goood!!

When we go back to the City we will go there - go to know that we can get some decent stuff

My friend took me to Carolina's a few weeks ago. Great mexican food but inside the place looked like it should be a soup kitchen. Also had dinner at 2 Margaritas a few nights prior. You guys have some darn good food in Phoenix.

I like the Los Dos Molinos on Central as you are going onto South Mountain. The Menudo is a spiritual experience. Cleansing!

The mexican I make is better, actually. But thats a matter of preference. Sometimes I like that overly sauced, deep fried, less than traditional mexican food though. Thats when I go to Los Dos.

I have picked up and modified several recipes from my mother in law who is mexican, and now can make some amazing Pork Green Chili, red chili, shredded beef (all of which are next to impossible to find here) posole, and home made enchilada sauce. Not to toot my own horn or anything. Heh.

Man, I love me some mexican food!

Plus I make the best margaritas in the world.

If I want to go nuts and eat bad, it is always Mexican. Arroz con pollo, with huge chunks of chicken, vegetables, and melted cheese, awesome stuff. Making it yourself is good too though. My uncle is from Mexico, and we often cook stuff together, I love the ability to tailor stuff to your own tastes, one of the major reasons I learned to cook. If only you could be that picky at a restaurant...
