Just one call in the life of a patrol officer..

Ok this occured about 5 years ago while I was working in patrol.

It was about 3:00 am when I get a call via the radio dispatching me to a house in referance to an extremely violent ongoing domestic disturbance.

The details via the radio were that the husband was beating the wife and the children and that he had a gun on his person. The wife had snuck into the bedroom and called her sister to tell her to call the police while the husband was in the kids room threatening them with the gun and shooting it.

My partner and I went enroute code 3. We get to the address within 3 minutes or so. We slowly walk up to the address and cant hear anything inside. We get to the front door and notice that the door is slightly open. We push it all the way open and yell "POLICE ANYBODY INSIDE" (Guns are drawn) suddenly a kid of about 5 years old comes to the door and says "they are in there" and points to the living room.

My partner and I slowly enter the house and make our way to the living room (guns still drawn) in the living room we find the wife, two kids, the husband(middle eastern descent) and the wifes sister and her husband. they are all sitting calmly on the couch but i notice right away that the wife has been beat up pretty bad as well as the older daughter. we keep our full attention on the husband and ask "wheres the gun" the husband states very loudly and boldly in a arabic accent "**** you there is no gun! there is no problem here! leave right now you dont have a warrant and no right to be in my house!"

We repeat "where is the gun!" at this time the husband sits up and moves his hands towards his pockets and says "leave or you will be very sorry" we then give him orders to put his hands in the air which he doesnt follow and continue to ask for the guns whereabouts.

Suddenly i hear this little voice next to me whispering in a very low tone saying "its in his pocket" the 5 year old boy was telling me where his father had put the gun.

My partner and I who have worked together for almost 3 years at this point simultaneously began to approach the husband in order to close distance without even talking to each other. As we got close enough we began to holster our weapons as the husband tried to go for his pocket and stand up in one solid movement. We both pounced on him and fought him to the ground in the middle of the living room. The guy put up one helluva fight! Stuff was flying everywhere and other family members were doing all they could to stay out of the way. Finally we are able to subdue him after many strikes and pepper spray.

After the mele I reach into his right pocket and sure enough we were fighting with a guy who had a loaded 38 Cal. revlover in his pocket with the hammer pulled back.

Talk about a scary revolation knowing that that could have went off with the skightest touch of the trigger during the fight.

Well it turns out that the guy was drunk and was continually beating the mom and the daughter for several hours. He had also taken the gun and pointed it to his sons head and told the three of them that he had 5 bullets in the gun he then fired a round a few inches away from his sons head and said now I have four one for each of you and one for me.

He was arrested but not convicted due to the fact that the mother later refused to testify and convinced the kids to do the same. Saying that he had changed and would never do duch a thing again. He was back in the house living with them as soon as he was released from jail.

Some women never learn

Sorry it was an exciting call and I was recently remaniscing(spelling) and just thought I would share!

Oh if you are wondering why the sister and her husband were there upon our arrival? They said that they thought they could arrive at the house and help since they were only three houses away.
