I ALMOST met Swann not that long ago. My girlfriend's sister lives in Elk Grove(Sacramento) and one of their neighbors was moving out and had a garage sale and they bought some items from the sale. We were going to go help them move one of the heavier ones but they got someone else to help. When they got inside the house there was a big picture of Eric Swann so Lucy's sisters' husband said "are you a Cardinal fan?" and the lady said "that's my husband, I'm married to Eric Swann."
They were supposed to back a couple of days later to pick up something else and I was going to go with them but apparently the Swann's decided not to sell whatever it was and I never got to go and meet Eric.

How bout this Russ, I don't know if you guys knew from the old board, but Eric is my 3rd cousin. I met him ONCE before he ever played for us when he lived in PA. He was a big mutha then, and this was like back in grade school.

Wow that's pretty cool. I always loved Swann, thought he got a raw deal from all the people calling him Erica. If only the knees hadn't been so problematic, one of the most talented DT's I ever saw in his prime.

His knees were a problem because offensive linemen had it in for him. I heard an interview with an ex-Eagle player a couple of years ago, where he said one game he came in against the Cardinals, not caring if he won or lost. His mission was to injure Eric Swann. In that game he made a deal with the lineman next to him, and one of them hit him high, one hit him low. Swann blew out his knee on the play and was lost for the season.
That player (who I can't remember the name of) said he felt vindicated about it and had a clear conscience, because he said Eric Swann was the dirtiest player in the NFL.
While I don't condone that, and was frankly shocked, maybe Eric Swann's injury problems go along the lines of "you reap what you sow".
