I'll be unemployed in two weeks. Anyone in PHX need any help?
As stated on another thread, I just handed in my 2-week notice and am thinking about getting out of the education field. It's too much.
I'll be relocating to PHX, so if anyone has any leads, please PM me. I have a B.A. in English and a M. Ed in Educational Leadership. I'm pretty well-built, so I can also do construction for the time being.
I've worked in ROP sales for newspapers, and then taught and administrated schools for the last 7 years.
Sorry to bring this crap here, but any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Oran

look up the large insurance companies - State Farm, American Family, USAA etc.
They are always hiring for claims adjusters, underwriting, etc.
Good pay and you only need a college degree.
I know USAA and State Farm both have regional offices in the Phoenix area.
Oran, my mom applied to USAA this past year and was hired pretty quickly. She said they are constantly on the lookout for people. I would definitely check that out. She absolutely loves it. Someone else on this board works there, but in case they dont want me to say their name, I wont. But he likes it too
You have to apply online, so it wouldn't hurt to check it out.
Good luck to you.

So my wife and my Superintendent talked me out of quiting. I'm actually upset that my wife wasn't very supportive, I think the cut in our combined income freaked her out, but still I'm disappointed that she wasn't all "If this makes you happy we'll get through it." She was more like "Who's gonna pay the mortgage?"
Oh well...maybe next year.

Well Oran if you ever decide to really quit there are a whole lotta ASFN posters wives that need servicing. See the other thread on this topic for photo's of said wives.

I believe there is a huge Classified section coming in this weekend's Republic. They do that at least once a year, and a lot of companies post ads in that edition.
There was also a recent article in the business section about Countrywide doing a ton of local hiring too.

I think quitting without having a new job lined up is a huge risk.
The best idea is too land a new job and then quit the current one.
I quit a job in '01 thinking I could quickly get a new one. Took me 8 months to score a comparable job. I had to work all these lame ass jobs in the meantime to survive. At the time I was told that is the average.
Questions like "Why did you quit your old job?" suck.
