I am sure insurance would have covered it, but it was only $10.00. Our insurance plan is not an HMO and carries a $1,000.00 annual deductible.
My son was having his spine checked as part of the schools 8th grade examination of all students by the school nurse. She originally thought he might have scoliosis. Our doctored was required to look at him and he determined it to be one leg longer than the other. He was/is not experiencing any back pain.
However, I have a mild form of scoliosis with an approximate 20 degree curvature of my spine which my doctor said is the source of my lower back pain that I have had for over 10 years. I just put up with the pain. They told me to exercise and sit using proper posture(yeah right) and of course lose weight around the mid-section. I only weigh 194 lbs and am 6 ft tall.
I can sympathise with the lower back pain. It is aggravating. I put up with it for several years before having x-rays done to see if something was wrong and that is when the scoliosis was detected.
Did your doctor speculate it would cost $300-600?
I don't know why there should be such a big price discrepancy. Our insurance did not off-set the cost any as in pay $10.00 for a $300-600 device.
