I just had a "Foster" mom withdraw a 7th grader...

I just had a foster mom withdraw a kid from my school because she has 6 other foster kids and decided that is one-to-many. This kid was a great student, didn't trust anyone but he did his work, and now he is heading to his fourth foster family. The kid is 12, and he's had three different families, not including his methed-out original family, tell him that he isn't wanted.

I've spent tons of time with him over the last 4 weeks to make him feel important, and now this crap happens.

I wanted to punch this lady in the face. I'm still pissed.

How heartbreaking!!!!!!! Foster families are so important! Why don't people take it seriously? Didn't they think about what it would be like to have one more BEFORE they took him in? Side note: My husband and I have talked about fostering when our two are teenagers.

good for you!!

I secretly want my mom to be a foster parent once things smooth out financially. I'm an only child, so it would be cool to possibly be the older sister of somebody....

This morning he said he wasn't going to do any work because he wasn't going to be here anymore, but I thought he was just trying to get out of doing a grammar worksheet for his teacher, so I padding him on the back and sent him to his classroom. I really wish I had some sort of parting wisdom to have shared with him.

It's total crap. I'm gonna go back to school and become an accountant. I can't deal with this crap.

Don't keep it a secret! Tell your mom! Maybe she secretly has thought about fostering, but was afraid of how you'd feel!!!

I want to foster because I love kids and always wanted a large family. But after losing our son, then having a VERY difficult labor and delivery w/my oldest, then giving birth to a nearly 9 pounder, 23 inches long w/my youngest, I have no desire to be pregnant again! So when they are older and more self sufficient, then I'd love to be a foster parent!!!!!!!!

I just handed in my 2 week letter of resignation, and am getting out of the field of Education. My wife is going to be pissed, but we had a long talk about it this weekend while at Lake Powell and I hope she understands.

Wow - that is some move - are you really sure you can not make it through another school year? You have always sounded like someone who really cares about the kids in your class - something in short supply.
