Nice catch, ale is better at room temperature while beer is better chilled. I remember, however, my German exchange partner's parents keep all the export and pils in the cellar, not in the refrigerator.

When you have so much beer in your house it doesn't fit into the refrigator.
Cellar is cold enough for beer. You know we don't have desert-type weather most of the times.
The family of my best friend actually has their own beer tapping plant in their house and always some barrels and crates of Jever dark beer.
And the best thing, you are legally allowed to drink beer at 16years and older. lol

I was 16 when I lived in Germany. That is where I learned how to taste beer, not just drink it.
