sorry about that man. When we lost Jake a few years back, it was terrible. My thoughts go to you, your family & the little 4 legged gal. What was her name & what kind of dog?

Pebbles. She was part austrailian sheppard, part terrior. I took this picture this morning when i figured out that we were likely going to have to put her down. She is on the right. The other dog is Heidi, once one of three dogs now she's alone.

I've put down 2 dogs in the past year. One had a brain tumor and the other was 18 and had a stroke. It's tough because they are just another member of the family. What I missed the most was not being greeted by them at the door or not having them just be there when I got up in the morning or when I was watching TV on the couch. Like I said, it's like losing a human relative
Hell the next time I have to go through the emotional trauma of putting a pet down, I'm taking bereavement from work
I had a dog for 16 years, cocker, she got sick and I had too put her down, sat in the room with her while they did it... really a sad experience...
About six months later I went and rescued another little dog, just under a year old... Irish terrier... One of the smartest pups I have ever seen... another month or so lare and he developed distemper... I had never seen it before but it was pretty horrendous... This was the best and most loving dog I had ever seen but when he would start the seizures he would darn near go crazy... At one point he was trying to bite me, I think he though I was shaking him... After each episode past he looked so confused, like WTF???
A horrible experience... The stinking rescue clinic that I got him from ended up being shut down for poor conditions...
They become like children, sorry for you loss..

I imagine making that decision is one of the hardest decisions in the world, but I give you major props for doing it--it is an incredibly unselfish and loving act! I have one dog and two cats, and they are my babies--I get misty when I even think about losing one of them; you have my deepest sympathies!

So sorry to hear about your loss, Heavy. Your pup was a cutie.
I have two cats, one who is 13 and one who is old, but I'm not sure how old since I plucked her off the street. The 13 year old is in good health, but my little scruff is starting to get cataracts and she has chronic respiratory and ear problems. I know she won't have a long life and it kills me since she is such a sweet cat.
Our pets definitely leave paw prints on our hearts.

I know, but Pebbles deserves to be remembered on her own. It helped me out when Jake died. Some people may find it trivial when someone mourns a lost pet, but when you have a strong bond with your pet, it's actually losing a family matter.
I had Jake creamated and his ashes are in a box here in my office with his collar & a picture of him.
