Have you or your younger family spent more than 5 days in the Hospital?

I want to see. I thought I was immune from the thing I wonder what others have experienced.

I hate being in a hospital. Nothing against the folks there - because they are doing their job. Its just the atmosphere sucks.

I've spent 3 seperate times in the hospital (10,7, and 7) for blood clotting problems. On each occasion I wasn't allowed to get out of bed for at least 5 days.

Probably the one phrase I kept hearing: "Get some rest" - always irked me cuz you really don't get any rest with all the traffic around the hospital and the nurses waking you up every couple hours to draw blood.

I spent the night at the hospital last year for gall bladder surgery. It felt like two weeks. I can't begin to imagine how bad five days would be.

For me it was like a freakin twilight zone. After a couple of days you start to get to know the folks working there. Even though I respect hospital staff and the crap they have to put up with...there are some moments inwhich some nurses drove me nuts.

One example was when the doctor told me I was allowed to get out of bed (day 6) and it wasn't necessary to give urine samples. It was the qty. of urine being measured - not the quality (like ryanwbs foamy pee).

Well for some reason this nurse insisted that she received no instructions and until that changes - I was staying in bed and providing urine samples.

Being the childish fellow - I got ticked off so I whizzed into the bottle and then went over and filled it up the 32 oz. bottle all the way to the top.

I went back to bed - turned off the lights. The nurse came in to measure the bottle...and almost fumbled it in shock. It wouldn't have surprised if she would have just poured it on me.

She then went and dumped it in the bathroom and stormed out muttering outloud in her 20 years of experience that she never met such a patient with a poor attitude....

I was in the hospital when I was four for a hernia operation. When the urine sample cups were gone from the bathroom, I told my mom I couldn't pee because there weren't any little cups. I was a brilliant kid.

5 days for a staph(spelling?) infection after the wound from my back surgery didn't heal properly - that was horrid - but I got A LOT of vicodins! Thankfully, with my father being a doctor - I was able to go home for bed rest for the next two weeks - as he could change and clean the wound - basically cleaning out a penny sized hole in my back - ugh - that month sucked ass.

I've never spent a night in the hospital.. just a day when I had my concussion.

My mom's been to the hospital a few times, but never for longer than a few days.

My daughter was in the hospital for a week w/RSV when she was 4 months old. My wife & I were bedside the whole time. That was horrible seeing her attached to all the tubes
