Has anyone had a tooth pulled and replaced by a bridge?

My dentist told me I should have my tooth pulled and replace it with a bridge. I had a root canal done on it but it still acts up. I was wondering what the procedure is and how much it cost for one bridge?

Also, I heard they use wire that holds the bridge together but that you can't notice the wire when looking at it. Is this true?

I found this site because of my dentist, actually. (Long story, I'll not bore you!) I just had a bridge done. If you have a good dentist, it's not biggie. I have no clue about the wire you are talking about, sorry. It's not cheap though. After my insurance paid, my out of pocket cost was about $1200, but it was SO worth it!!! If you are at all concerned that your dentist is trying to rip you off or make you do something not needed, get a second opinion! I feel that if you don't 100% trust any medical professional's opinion, get a second opinion.

I agree with all of that... I just had a tooth pulled... It had 2 root canals on it so once they yanked it I wanted my 3000 bucks back.. The bridge to fill the gap is out of pocket about the same $1200.00 over my insurance... The hole will remain for now...

Yeah, I had a space in my mouth for a few years before I finally 1) found a dentist I trusted and 2) could afford to get it done. Now that it's done, I'm A LOT happier with my teeth!!!

I had some work done and my insurance is maxed. I have a crown next to the tooth they want to pull but on the other side of the tooth is a tooth that is not crownd. Will they have to crown that tooth in order to do the bridge?

The work that you had done that maxed out your insurance, was it all in this calendar year? Most insurance companies go by calendar year. Check into that. About the need to crown the other one or not, that could only be answered by a dentist. I just Googled 'dental bridge' and found this site. http://www.aboutcosmeticdentistry.co...l_bridges.html It has a lot of really great info that could help it all make a little more sense.
