View Poll Results: How would you react to being told that you get to save $600+ a year on your insurance
Ok, let's say you receive a renewal notice in the mail for your home owners insurance. You've been with this company for 5 or more years. In the renewal letter, you notice that your premium has gone up by almost 10%. You call your insurance agent to find out why your rate went up, and your agent tells you that he will look into it and let you know why it was increased. A couple hours later you get a call from your agent, and he tells you that your rate went up because your insurance company raised rates across the board for everyone, but he also tells you that he's found a way to redo both your home and auto policies so that instead of a 10% increase to your home owners premium that you could benefit from a decrease of 23% (or $600) to your yearly premiums with an increase in overall coverages and benefits.
What would your answer be?
1) Woo Hoo! Sign me up! Let me have your children!
2) Hmmm...let me discuss this with my spouse and I'll let you know later.
3) What? Are you kidding me? I'm shopping elsewhere!
Spoiler:
If you answered: "What? Are you kidding me? I'm shopping elsewhere!" then you'd match what 4 of my idiots...err...clients have said to me the past week. Of course 3 of them came grovelling back wanting the new rates (I've yet to hear back from the 4th one as I just got off the phone with her.)

I would be irritated that I had to call & complain to get the 23% off. Had I said nothing, I wouldn't be getting the 23% off?
I'd still be happy & take it, though.

I understand that it's a pain having to call to complain...but...insurance companies (now get ready for this)...
NEVER WANT TO SAVE YOU MONEY!
And there's no way I can go through and monitor my entire book-of-business and make constant adjustments to save my policyholders money through out the year.
Squeaky wheels gets the grease.
Your insurance agents (if you have one) make commission on your your premiums...make them earn it!
But no real reason? Do they think you are just trying to get more money from them by tying it together, and that you are just trying to scam them? Seriously, what in the world would possess someone to say, "No thanks, I don't like money."

There's a few things...
1) A general distrust of insurance agents.
Every time I say "I have a great deal for you." I feel like I'm Kurt Russell in "Used Cars".
2) A disgust with having to think or decide upon something that they feel was already resolved.
Most people hate the fact that they must (by law) carry car insurance. Add that to the fact that no mortgage lender will loan you money to purchase a home if you don't carry insurance on the home. Woman, more than men, can't deal with that fact, and must lash out. People will get frustrated if you make them have to think.
3) The fact that no one else will take their ****!
With so many opportunities to get dung slung at them during the course of their day, most people must find an opportunity (any opportunity) to sling some back. When their told that the deal they made years ago was changed by the insurance company (again!), it pisses them off and shuts them down to any logically presentation after that. That's why 99% of them come back all nice, humble, and happy the next day.
Regardless, it still pisses me off when I put forth maximum effort to make a policyholder happy, only to get bitched out!
