Free computer advice

My wife wants to erase the whole thing and start over. Not the marriage, her computer. How do you do that? Is it called fdisk or what? What is an fdisk anyway?

She has all the restore discs so reloading shouldn't be a problem (we hope)

She has an Alienware and runs windows XP

Any help would be great.

FDisk is a DOS based program that will format your drive. Do a search for google and download F-disk then create an MS-DOS boot disk and copy it on there.

Simply put a disk in your floppy drive, go into My Computer and right click on your A: Drive. Now click on format, when the dialog comes up select "create MS-DOS boot disk" when it is done copying copy the F-disk program to that disk and reboot your computer with the disk in it.

when the c:\ comes up in DOS simply do a Fdisk c: to format your drive

If she has an Alienware PC I am sure she has a restore disk somewhere which will take it right back to the original configuration.

If you don't have that, be sure you have your windows disk AND the registration key before you wipe your hard drive.
