Finally, real competition for Paypal

Let me say that I think Paypal is an absolute monopoly and has been such a cash cow for Ebay because of all the fees they charge. Google is launching Gpay at the end of this month and it will be much lower in costs.

Let me prognosticate and say that Google is going to launch an auction site to compete with Ebay....

I haven't been on ebay in like 2 years. There were like 4 or 5 fees I was charged to sell something. The picture hosting fee, the auction fee the paypal fees..... ridiculous

I love eBay and this google thing will have to be really spectacular for me to switch.

The one thing I hate about paypal is if you sell stuff on eBay and the customer wants to pay with credit card, you have to change your paypal settings to "business" seller or whatever, and thus you are have to pay fees for every transaction, instead of nothing for debit. It sucks for the non-business sellers.

YES YES YES!!!

I'm only hoping that eBay members will start to make the switch as well. I do most of my business on eBay, and would just love to use this.

I dont have a problem with the fees E-bay or paypal charge. They are reasonable and nothing outrageous IMO. This is going to have to be substantially better in order for me to switch.

On the other hand if they are really good it will likely force Paypal to reduce rates. Whic means I would just keep using them.

Agreed. Some of the paypal fees that they use for non business sellers is atrocious.

I rarely use eBay because of it.

This is sorta off topic, but the biggest con on Ebay right now is the shipping and handling fees. $12.00 to ship a package that only costs ike $1.25 in postage? Every single seller has adopted this ripoff policy

...and don't give me that "it's a pain to go down to the post office" bit because you can print shipping labels right off your computer and UPS will come pick it up.

Ugh, no kidding. I refuse to buy from sellers that outrageously charge you for S/H. I try to find the typical non-business seller who's just out to sell their crap and be done with it, not make a huge buck off of excessive S/H fees.

9.00 shipping for a DVD - give me a break.

Althought I was never a huge ebay user (34 items), I havent bought anything since Nov-17-05 and havent sold since Dec-23-03. I got tired of all the knockoff stuff on there and ebay's blantant ignoring of it.

Actually thats a tactic they use to hekp cut down on ebay fees. IMO they feel they have an idea of what the item will sell for. So they jack up the shipping price in order to get the amount they really want without paying the juice on the sell price to ebay.

I have found many sellers who do this and I will still buy on occasion because even with shipping its a really good deal.

Oh, same here. If they have a buy it now price of like 4.00 and shipping is 10 - but the item reall is worth 14, I would totally buy it.

I HATE that...because now I can't have friends pay me via paypal because it charges fees on my "business" account.

Go ahead and spend over $50 per successful listing after PayPal and eBay fees, like I do, and tell me that you don't have a problem.
