When I was 6, Super Mario 3 came out for the NES. My aunt (who was only 9) had money and bought it. I played it for a while at my grandmas house and loved the game. I was sad to go home, where I didn't have the game.
Anyway, my mom went to go get dinner that night, Mcdonalds, but took a side trip to target or something and bought me the game. She then put it in my Happy Meal as if it was my toy. The little things that make you really happy when you are a kid.

I had that same type of memory of NES when it first came out in 85. It was the family X-Mas gift that year, and I remember waiting for hours watching my older siblings play waiting for my turn. It was the only gift we children got that year, but one of the best that I can remember.
My Aunt bought me a "Stretch Monster". It was the cousin of "Stretch Armstrong". Maybe you remember it. you could stretch it by pulling its arms and legs. I remember my older brother eating the goo out of it when it was finally worn and torn. Thanks Aunt Gail!

I think I got mine in 88. It was really a battle between me and my dad on who would play it. But I also got this thing called Socrates it was a learning video game. I played that for the first year probably more than my Nintendo.

I had that. Loved it. Never thought to eat the red/pink filling goo.
My fave memory: Getting my Bionic Man Action figure with rocket ship/repair station thing. So cool!
Although not my favorite memory, but quite memorable was when my case of NES games was stolen at the airport. There were probably 20-25 games and I was 8-9. I remember going to Toys R Us and picking 20-25 game slips off the big wall and waiting for the clerk to pull them out of stock. Then getting home and unwrapping each one.

Playoffs? Don't talk about -- playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win another game!
Bobby Joe Conrad catches a jillion passes against the Steelers and Cards win 24-23. Cards win NINE and only lose five. BJC sets franchise receiving record with 73 catches, 10 for TDs.
2nd favorite: Cards beat Lombardi's Packers 24-17 in the playoff bowl.

Building a whiffle ball field in my back yard with my father.
THAT was the coolest thing ever. I spend a decade playing whiffle ball back there.

DUDE!!!!
My childhood friend back in KY. has built a whiffle ball field complete with dugouts and a green monster, complete with a scoreboard. He is supposed to send picks and I'll post them when he finally does. Actually, I'm trying to get him to join ASFN.
I think playing with my cousins all summer long is my favorite childhood memory. We combined The Adventure People and Star Wars gear to create our own crazy little world. We had the Death Star, an airplane, the Millennium Falcon, a helicopter, Bobba Fett's ship, some cars and a bunch of other crap I can't remember. We used blocks, pillows and all kinds of stuff to create these huge villages and epic battles.
Fun times.
