Earth Hour

Anybody see this?

I've got free tickets from work to the D-backs exhibition game that night and the game may very well still be going on (or close to ending). Traffic, everything is going to be a nightmare.

Looters get yourselves ready!!

Phoenix was chosen as a leader in the effort and will turn off all of the power of its downtown city run buildings.

How many buildings is that?

It can't be to many.

if that's the benchmark then why Phoenix?!

Rousing success at our place. Candles, accoustic guitar, conversation. Might do this every Saturday.

My neighborhood went dark except for people's solar outdoor lights and automatic security lights in the stables and stuff, but the various neighbors turned some lights back on after 30-45 minutes. I think it's a very good idea. Just turning off the lights at 8 made me aware how darn many lights I have on at any one time, and how easy it would be to take a step towards more conservation.

It's a world-wide event, and I like the idea that the whole globe wants to show concern for the energy footprint we all make. Even China participated. Not the French or Germans, of course.

We participated.

Good idea - tons of energy wasted on unneccesary lighting. Drives up energy costs for everyone.

Me too. It would be a good start if we could get everyone to do that

I drive my girlfriend nuts going around behind her turning off lights.

When we were in Australia they were advertising earth hour I'd forgotten all about it.
