Driving Directions Needed-LA To Seattle Via PCH
I am trying to find some driving directions from Santa Monica to Seattle via the Pacific Coast Highway. All the sites I am going to, google maps, yahoo, mapquest, just give me the quickest route. Any help is appreciated.

From Santa Monica, head North on the PCH until you get to Seattle.
Are you on the lamb from Cox?

That is it. There aren't any weird parts where you have to take any other roads or anything?

Just don't turn left unless you're in your swim suit.
Seriously, you can't get lost on the PCH. No way. Never. Ok well my wife could but that's another story.

I was playing with www.randmcnally.com. I entered Los Angeles to Seattle and then tried to put in some coastal way points to get away from 5 and back to the 1. The best I could do track LA to Monterey to San Francisco to Seattle which was 1242 mi and 20:45.
I bet Russ Smith will chime in with a great answer and some UCLA recruiting news.

I imagine it could take a long time - I drove a stretch down to SF from the upper area of wine country - some very windy and slow going stretches - definitely not a drive you can set it at 70 and cruise - some parts were a little intense, but a very scenic drive

You wanted the "quick" route? lol...There is nothing quick about 1/101. Beautiful yes, quick no.
As stated you pretty much stay all the way up 1 until you get to Pacifica, just south of SF, which brings you to 101 through SF. After going over Golden Gate bridge they're will be signs to get back on 1 in San Rafael, right over the bridge.
North of Ft Bragg you'll be diverted over to 101 where you'll be inland for about 70 or so miles until you come into Eureka..then 101 is coastal up to Washington.
Clear sailing up through Oregon..awesome photo opportunities if that's your thing (obviously the same down in Carmel area of Ca)
However, once in Washington very little of 101 is actually along the coast, (inland bays and such) and might want to consider taking a easternly shot towards Seattle at Aberdeen..get you on 5 for the last crawl into Seattle.
Either way, if possible, avoid driving through Carmel area on weekends, as it's very very slow, unless you have all the time in the world.
Highway 5 going into Seattle also is brutal at rush hour. (same thing 101 from Pacifica through SF to Golden Gate Bridge..rush hour it's a parking lot.)
Have fun.

Once you get up into Washington you will have to cut over to get to Seattle. Google maps shows Shelton is where you would break off.
101 is going to take forever. All the zig-zagging will take forever (forever= about 36 hours)

No I didn't want the quickest route but that is what all the mapping sites give me. I couldn't tell it to give me the directions from LA to Seattle via 1/101 it would always give me the route on the 5.
Thanks for everyones help and input.
