Another Boxing Travesty
Watching Chris Byrd tonight v. Fres Oquendo. Bryd wins a unanimous decision...which was outrageous. Completely ludicrous IMO. Oquendo controlled the fight and won more rounds. Boy oh boy.

I actually was able to check out the last half of the De La Hoya / Mosley fight, and it was pretty close, IMO.
But tonight's fight was ridiculous. One judge scored the bout 116-112 Byrd, and another scored it 117-111. I couldn't believe it! Oquendo basically controlled the entire fight--even the last few rounds, when Byrd came to life, Oquendo held his own. Oscar thought that at worst, his fight would have been a draw--IMO, this fight tonight was nowhere near a draw.
Oquendo should be the new champion. Period.

Funny because both guys are represented by King--which is probably why there will not be an "official" inquiry as to the decision.

And aren't all of the judges on King's payroll too?

Chap, I STILL cannot believe Byrd won that fight. For all those who said De La Hoya got robbed, you guys missed out on a real screw job here.
Did you see the utter look of surprise on Byrd's face when he won. As the ring announcer was reading the scores Byrd's face and actions said to me "I lost...scores sound about right". Also, it was one of the strangest post fight interviews...both fighters standing together to be interviewed...Byrd saying he took Oquendo and his skills for granted, etc.
And Boxing wonders why it isn't taken seriously anymore.

George Foreman was stunned at the end and was adamant about how the boxers should really speak up more about the injustices with the scoring. He said that Byrd should have just admitted that he lost the fight. Before the winner was announced, he KNEW he had lost the fight. After they read that last score (117-111), I was pretty sure Oquendo had won. There is no way in hell that Byrd won 9 rounds to 3--that is absolutely ridiculous!
