Air Conditioner Repair Recommendations

What's a good company to call to have them come check/fix my air conditioner?

I've had 2 experiences with A/C repair companies.

Stay away from Chas Roberts at all costs. They had to order parts and the whole process was not customer-responsive and was not impressed with them at all.

George Brazil was great, and that is where I will go in the future. I had a blown-out motor on my A/C, the guy had a replacement part in his truck, and I was good to go within an hour. They are also very courteous and clean and didn't pressure me into buying a whole new unit.

Not bargain-basement prices, but fair IMO for what I got. It's been almost two years now since the repair and my A/C still makes icicles in the house.

In fairness to Chas Roberts they have come along way in the last couple of years. It may just be that I work for a major builder so we get the good service but I think they started to focus on customer service over the last few years.

I will tell you to stay away from Minuteman Express and Golden Services (same company with two different names) at all costs. The owner is a thief and they are WAY overpriced.

We've used Ace Air for maintenance - they were pretty good. Can't say about repairs, tho.

I use two companies for property management: CASM in Chandler and Accu Temp in Phoenix. Right now I'm using Accu Temp exclusively. I only seem to have to call them once ... but it comes at a cost.

Isn't that what you want after being serviced by an HVAC guy.

Is that code for something?

our relay died a couple weeks back - it was fairly late on a sunday - really liked the guy who came out, but can't remember who it was - can check when I get back home

charged about $90/hr for labor and they had the part in the car - recharged the freon and did a couple little basic maintance items as well, but really didnt try to upsell the experience

pretty much the only person we could get to come out same day

ARGH!!! Our a/c went out yesterday. Our house has 2 units - one for upstairs and one for the lower level.

So when I got home and went upstairs, it was 88 degrees and the darn thing was cycling over and over, but only hot was was coming out. I'm thinking it just needs freon.

The soonest Ace can come out is this afternoon, so we had to sleep on the sofa downstairs. Which explains why I'm so sleepy today and my neck hurts!

So, this is weird. After suffering through the weekend, I got up on Monday morning planning to call the companies listed above (thanks for the advice, everyone). I wanted to turn the switch to "on" again so I could more accurately describe the noise that the machine was making, but when I did, the stupid thing came right on and has been working fine since.

Yeah, it was pretty brutal. But, hey, my SRP bill was $36 last month.
