World of Warcraft (movie)

World of Warcraft to the Big Screen

May 9, 2006

Warner Bros.-based Legendary Pictures has picked up film rights to adapt the popular fantasy video game franchise World of Warcraft and will develop the project with game publisher Blizzard Entertainment, which is owned by Vivendi.

While the "Warcraft" franchise has been around for more than a decade, the most recent iteration, the megahit online title "World of Warcraft," has transformed the video game industry.

Unlike most games, where players pay $50 once and play until they're done, more than 6 million people around the world pay $14.99 per month to participate in the multiplayer game.

Legendary put up half the money for Warners' Batman Begins and the upcoming Superman Returns.

Sweet! I always thought Warcraft would make a great series. It should star HeavyB, the level 60 night elf priest.

Mmm priests are fun to kill. The fact that you're a NE makes it even better. You know the Horde and Alliance would have to team up for the movie. Of course Blizzard's favoritism towards the Alliance shows, so I would not be suprised if the Alliance came out on top. Stupid Blizzard.

Some of the game trailers are just awesome... I would imagine a movie could be pretty good as well...

I personally don't see this favoritism that people talk about but maybe because I have really been into the warcraft series from day one, the very first one... I actually see the favoritism towards the Horde on Blizzards part...

I think players tend to favor alliance, primarily because they are humans... somewhere and somehow it changed from one side being more good than the other, but initially depending on which race you picked, you were on the Good side, and the other was evil, regardless of which one you played...

Play the one, then play the other and you see the opposing view point... The additions of the Dark Portal, the Scourge and the ranks of the Undead did not even exist until WC2 and many cases WC3...

ok, feeling nerdy, but I hope this movie gets put together well...

Yeah, I know. I just like talking smack to the Alliance. Alliance get rolled over in BG's on every server I've played on. So I guess there can't be too much favoritism

For those that are unfamiliar with the game, and I am sure that is most...

http://worldofwarcraft.com/trailer/

Could be done like Narnia, or I kind of was hoping it would be more like lord of the Rings...

I don't know if you could do this in any media other than animation. Seems like live actors would be hard pressed to come off right.
