John Rogers
New Writers Board Transformers
Source: IGN Filmforce
February 18, 2005
Transformers screenwriter John Rogers has revealed on his Kung Fu Blog that, after having turned in a revised first draft, he has moved onto another project. He may come back at a later time for more work on the script.
"Nothing horrible, everything's cool. But I was technically contracted to start another movie when the 'Transformers' gig popped up. The producers of that flick -- including one-of-us Akiva Goldsman -- were real gentlemen about the situation and stepped aside for the duration of the high-intensity TF first draft," says Rogers.
He adds that "The next 'Transformers' production pass, adressing specific producer notes, will be executed by another writer or set of writers. I'll be off doing this new project, will lock in the shooting draft for 'Fatal Frame' (I meet with the director tomorrow) then will probably swing back in later on for a polish --I'm still under contract for TF."
IGN Filmforce has learned that the new writers on Transformers are Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who have worked on Alias and Xena: Warrior Princess. They also wrote upcoming features The Island, The Legend of Zorro, and Mission: Impossible 3.
While previously being eyed for a summer 2006 release date, ComingSoon.net has learned that Transformers is now scheduled for November 17, 2006.

The Transformers At Bay
Source: Variety
April 6, 2005
Michael Bay ("Armageddon", "Pearl Harbor") may come on board to direct a live action movie based on the '80s phenomenon The Transformers, scheduled for a Thanksgiving 2006 releaes from DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures.
Steven Spielberg, who is currently directing The War of the Worlds for the two companies, signed on as an executive producer for the project, giving it to writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci to get into shape. Having worked with Michael Bay on his upcoming sci-fi film (The Island), they were probably pivotal in getting the director excited about the project and interested in directing it. DreamWorks will work on securing Bay for the project once the first new script is turned in.
"Transformers" were a popular Hasbro toy line during the '80s, which spawned a number of cartoons, comic books as well as an animated feature.

Michael Bay on Transformers
Source: Robert
April 29, 2005
'Robert' from IESB.net tells us he caught up with The Island director Michael Bay who will next direct the live-action Transformers movie, which DreamWorks and Paramount have scheduled for a November 17, 2006 release.
Bay told the site that shooting is expected to start in December and the script is not done. While Bay dodged questions (saying he needs to finish The Island first), he did say "we'll make everyone satisfied on that" when asked whether original voice over actors will be used, if it will be a mix of the comics and cartoon series and whether the movie will have a classic feel to it.

George Clooney Playing Optimus Prime
June 3, 2005
Source: IESB, AICN
IESB says that a Canadian Entertainment TV Show is reporting that George Clooney has signed on to do the voice over work of the beloved leader of the Autobots.
Meanwhile, according to an AICN scooper Michael Bay was approached after an early test screening of The Island that was done for Dreamworks big wigs and was asked about the Transformers movie.
"At the end the crowd gave a somewhat polite applause, afterwards, I shook Bay's hand in the theater lobby and asked him about Transformers, he said that the studio (Dreamworks) was still working on the script but that he was indeed involved. He hopes to start shooting early next year, and that the voices, won't be the original cast, from the old cartoon, but different voices. He wants a fresh approach to the Transformers."

Shia LaBeouf in Talks for Transformers
Source: Stax
March 28, 2006
IGN Filmforce has confirmed a recent rumor that Shia LaBeouf (Constantine, I, Robot) is in talks to play Sam in Paramount's big screen Transformers adaptation, directed by Michael Bay and executive produced by Steven Spielberg.
A casting sheet making the rounds includes a description of the Sam character, as well as the humans in the film:
Sam - teenage male, somewhat nerdy, but ultimately heroic.
Miguela Barns - teenage female, Sam's love interest.
Cpt William Lennicks - 30s male, leader of the military.
Maggie - female, really hot, really smart, works as a codebreaker for the government.
John Kellar - 50's/60's male, US Secretary of State.
Glen Whitman - 20's male, technogeek, comic relief.
Transformers is targeted for a July 4, 2007 release date.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though I loved Transformers and GI Joe when I was a kid!
But the voice work was the best part. Either they had better voice talent back then.(non-celebrities), ones that could really work the character.
Or the techs knew how to work the voices to fit charactors(something you don't dare do to a star).
Sort of hope they add some sort of synthesizer effect to clooneys voice over.

The guy who did Star Scream's voice died in the early '90s. He was the original voice of Mr. Burns and Moe on the Simpsons but got sick and had to turn the roles over
