The one thing I didn't like and thought wasn't done well and at times was a little confusing:
Spoiler:
The cell-phone radar. I thought that was unnecessary, and even in the context of a comic book movie, a little unbelievable.

One thing that I thought was cool (and this is a REAL spoiler, so I REALLY recommend you don't read it unless you've seen the film):
Spoiler:
People in the theater clapped and went crazy when Jim Gordon reappeared. That was a great moment in the movie, and I thought it was really well delivered line when he got to tell his kid that he saved the Batman.

And, just in case you're curious, the theater was about half-full at 9:15 AM.

My gut tells me this will the the highest-grossing weekend to date.

The thing I really liked is that it took so long for him to reappear. When he "died", the first thing I thought is that it was staged. But it took at least 20 minutes for him to reappear and by that time you're like, "maybe he IS dead". Mainly because most movies that do that show the guy alive in the next scene or two--but this movie did not.

I'm seeing it again at 4pm this afternoon at the Arclight here (the best public theater in California), because when I saw the screening a few days ago, there were no trailers.

There was a trailer for Watchmen. Interesting, but as a fanboy it doesn't have me foaming at the mouth like I was for Batman.

Still thinking about it. F'n awesome.

BTW, there were a bunch of 6-8 year olds there with their parents. I don't know what those parents were thinking. A) Those kids are not going to sleep well all week and B) the movie was more than 2.5 hours.

I am going to see this tomorrow. Can't decide if I should see this at the IMAX or at the Cine Capri2 (which I think is all digital)?

AMAZING!

Ledger was awesome. Nailed the part.

First time i've been to a movie this year where the crowd applauded at the end of the movie.

I give this movie an A!

Might have to see it again this weekend.

I totally agree...the entire theater, including myself, clapped when we saw him...it was an awesome moment!

But this is my favorite moment in the film:

Spoiler:

The magic pencil trick....that was simply SPECTACULAR and the audience was gasping for like 30 seconds afterwards...it was friggin' brilliant and hilarious....

Man, was a damned good flick.

A very good film, one of the best of the year. Very dark and not just for show. Ledger's character...brilliant (but for a different reason than Jack--someone nailed it--they can't be judged against one another). The comparisons of heroes and that entire line was quite good too. My main beef with the film is that it was too long and that they tried to do too much, which took away from how good it was, and took away from the enjoyability factor. I liked it a lot, but I didn't love it, and I'm not frothing at the mouth about it. In Bruges is a LOT better a movie, and it's one that's rather dark as well. Excellent film and one of the best comic book movies. I bet Ledger does win an Oscar, and he should, even without the hype about his death. Still, this is NOT anywhere NEAR the top 10 ever. Not even close. That talk is simply laughable.

Spoiler:
I like the arc they had for 2 face, but it's balls that they killed him (also made it waaaaaaaaaaaaay too obvious. I'm no comic book fan, but even I knew he was becoming 2 face in his first courtroom scene). They stuffed way too much of his stuff in there, and then killed him off inexplicably. Still and all, I love how they ended it with Batman being the bad guy. I hade sappy endings
