Pretty good upper-end Indy film with William H. Macy and Alec Baldwin.
Macy plays a loser. A loser of such magnitude that his bad luck rubs off on those around him, making him the best "cooler" that ever lived. He works in Baldwin's casino "cooling" people's luck that are winning at the tables.
Saying Macy works at the casino is being nice. He works for Baldwin because he got in over his head in Gambling debts. When we meet him he's a week away from being out from under Baldwin's thumb, and he's going to leave town when his debt is paid. That's not good news for Baldwin, and it's further complicated when he falls in love and his luck changes (negating his "cooling" effects).
Good flick. Very well done. I recommend it.

In some of William H. Macy's roles I want to go beat the crap out of him because he is always whining and pathetic...... but I guess that is what makes him a good actor

Gave me the same feeling.
He really is a very good actor though.
